Ancient Odysseys

Ancient Odysseys was founded by citizen scientist Marisa Rodriguez with a simple but powerful goal: to give curious travelers the rare opportunity to work side-by-side with real scientists on active paleontology, archaeology, and paleoanthropology expeditions. What began in 2012 on a dinosaur dig in Wyoming—unearthing a 66-million-year-old Triceratops in extreme conditions—quickly grew into a lifelong passion for discovery.

Since then, Marisa has joined digs across the globe, from uncovering dinosaurs in the American West to participating in a Neanderthal excavation in Spain. Each experience reinforced the same belief: discovery is more meaningful when it’s shared.

In partnership with Southwest Adventure Tours, Ancient Odysseys transforms that passion into expertly guided, small-group adventures that combine scientific research, hands-on exploration, and unforgettable travel experiences. These journeys invite guests to go beyond sightseeing—to dig deeper, contribute to real science, and experience the thrill of discovery firsthand.
