Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy is our Director of Tour Operations.

He is an 8th generation Californian whose ancestors first came to the Golden State by covered wagon in 1859. After settling in the North Valley between Redding and Red Bluff, they moved to Sacramento where Kevin was born and raised. Graduating from California State University, Chico with a degree in Recreation Administration in 1993, Kevin has worked in various capacities in the tour and travel industry for over 20 years including positions in destination marketing, tour operations, sales and management.

An Eagle Scout who still volunteers as an adult leader with Troop 386, Kevin loves to introduce Scouts and visitors alike to the natural beauty of California, from its national parks and monuments like Mt. Lassen Volcanic Park and Yosemite, to the over 200 state parks that also showcase its natural and scenic wonders. His favorites include McArthur-Burney Falls and Plumas-Eureka State Parks as well as parks that showcase California’s amazing history like Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento and Fort Ross on the Sonoma Coast. Backpacking and hiking the coastal range and along the Pacific Coast and John Muir Trails are also personal favorites. Kevin is also an avid sailor, having trained in the challenging conditions of San Francisco Bay. He resides in Sacramento with his wife Susan and their two grown children.
