Starting from Bryce
Bryce Canyon City sits at the park boundary, about 8,000 feet up on the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Trips listed as leaving from here start at the park rather than at a city several hours away, which is what you want if you are already driving the region or coming off another itinerary.
The altitude is the thing to plan for. Bryce is high enough that summer nights are cold and winter closes some of the connecting roads; the amphitheatre holds snow well into spring, which is also when it photographs best.
Zion is about ninety minutes south-west, Capitol Reef about two and a half hours east, so a trip starting here can reach three parks without a long transfer day.
