Today, you will see firsthand why Albuquerque is celebrated as the "Balloon Capital of the World." Your day begins with an early morning transfer to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Field. Beat the crowds and head straight to the exclusive Chasers Club to enjoy a delicious hot breakfast. While dining, witness the breathtaking Dawn Patrol—a tradition started in 1978 when two pioneering California balloonists created night-lighting systems. Watch these skilled pilots take off in the pitch black, illuminating the night sky until dawn breaks.
Just as the sun peaks over the horizon and the morning winds fall completely calm, prepare for the main event: the spectacular Mass Ascension. Watch in awe as hundreds of hot air balloons launch into the crisp New Mexico sky, creating a vibrant, swirling rainbow of colors.
Later this morning, dive into New Mexico's rich geological history with a visit to the fascinating Turquoise Museum. Here, you will learn about ultra-rare specimens, discover the intricate process of grinding and shaping the stones, and browse the brilliant gift shop for authentic souvenirs.
From there, take a scenic drive through Albuquerque—affectionately known as "The Jewel of the American Southwest"—en route to historic Old Town. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore hidden courtyards, stroll beneath historic covered portals, and shop for unique Native American jewelry and local art at the fine specialty stores and galleries surrounding the Plaza. Old Town’s iconic tree-lined plaza, charming adobe architecture, and historic San Felipe de Neri Church are a photographer's and shopper's dream.
After an exhilarating day, return to your hotel for a relaxing evening and dinner on your own.

As you smoothly ascend and descend from the staggering 10,387-foot crest, look out over the landscape below—you may even spot colorful hot air balloons drifting through the morning sky. From this incredible vantage point, you will gaze upon the ancestral lands that the Pueblo and Ancestral Pueblo people have called home for millennia.
Next, dive deep into the rich heritage of the Southwest at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. This fascinating visit offers an immersive introduction to America’s first "apartment dwellers," the Pueblo tribes. You will explore a vibrant collection of authentic artifacts and traditional crafts, gaining insight into the deep-rooted cultural and religious customs that have preserved this society for over 1,000 years. Depending on the daily schedule, you may get to witness live, traditional native dances and see master craftsmen at work.
