Guide
Barbara Cox
I was born in Budapest, Hungary. Went to school for Tourism and Hospitality and guided my first tour at the age of 18. Came to the US in 1994.
My greatest passion is the Outdoors. Hiking, Canyoneering, climbing and as of lately, Packrafting are what I enjoy most.
My favorite part of a tour is when someone gets to Conquer something they didn’t think they could, and the whole group celebrates.
Why I love being a guide
My favorite part about guiding is meeting a group for the first time, they never met each other before. This group, by the end of our adventure is Family. We get to know one another, bond and sometimes even conquer things never thought possible.
I love sharing the History, Geology and try to make it fun in the process.
My guiding style
I always hope to make the tours fun, and share interesting, lesser known facts with my group. I also respect the fact, that sometimes we just need to listen to the sound of nature...
Favorite places
My favorite National Park to guide is Death Valley, because it has so many hidden treasures.
The park I’m most intrigued by and find the most spectacular is Grand Teton.
But the one I never get tired of and know the most intimately is Zion, this is where we explore the most in our time off.
My favorite tour with Southwest Adventure Tours is the Canyons of the Escalante.
Fun facts
- My hobbies are hiking, canyoneering, climbing and packrafting.
- But I also love just reading a book, and I’m absolutely obsessed with dogs.
- My newest adventure is that I will get to be promoted to Grandma in March 2026.
