Questions people ask

Should I start in Salt Lake City or Las Vegas?

Both Mighty 5 tours visit all five parks. Las Vegas is the shorter, cheaper way: 5 days from $1,999 per person. The Salt Lake City tour is 8 days from $3,499, and keeps a day at each end for flying in and out. Prices are before any deal.

What is the best month to go?

Fall is the sweet spot for most people: daytime temperatures in the 70s and 80s°F, after a summer when the lower parks routinely pass 100°F. Spring gets busy from late March. Winter is the quietest time of year, with snow on the hoodoos at Bryce Canyon. Our four-season guide to the Mighty 5, linked below, goes through each season park by park.

How much walking is there?

Every tour in the table has an activity rating. The Mighty 5 tour from Las Vegas is rated easy and the one from Salt Lake City moderate. Canyons of the Escalante is the most active, rated strenuous. Each tour's own page explains what its rating means day to day.

Can I go in winter?

Yes. Mighty 5 Utah From Salt Lake City and Mighty 5 Utah Tour From Las Vegas have departures in December, January or February. Zion, Arches and Canyonlands sit in the mid-30s to low-50s°F in winter, while Bryce Canyon is higher and often below freezing, with snow. It is the quietest time of year in all five parks.
