  • Today you make the drive to Denali National Park, the home of Denali, the highest peak in North America. Along the way, we’ll make frequent stops for sightseeing including a lunch stop in Talkeetna and an afternoon jetboat tour.

Experience the splendor of Denali and the rugged Alaska Range from a spectacular vantage point on the Susitna River in a technically advanced jetboat! The folklore, artifacts and panoramic views combine to make this unique 20-mile river adventure unforgettable. The 2-hour tour begins aboard the fifty-two passenger Talkeetna Queen or one of her 15 or 20 passenger sister boats, as it whisks you into the heart of the wilderness in comfort. These are the most technologically advanced jetboats in Alaska designed to safely navigate shallow rivers (in some places just a few feet deep) that were previously inaccessible.

As you travel twenty miles of river, your naturalist will talk about the history and rivers in the area, as well as information about Denali. You may have opportunities to view bald eagles that nest in the local area. A stop will include a ¼-mile nature walk to a Dena'ina Indian Encampment, who were the earliest native settlers in the area. You will also visit an authentic trapper’s cabin with its original furnishings and view how trappers lived in "Bush" Alaska at the turn of the century. Your experienced local guide will display furs from the surrounding area and demonstrate trapping methods. Naturalists will also acquaint you with the wildflowers and plants that grow in abundance along the river system, and you will learn about the edible plants that were used by the Native Indians for cooking and medicines and some that are still eaten today.

Your knowledgeable driver/guide will share the biology, geology, and history of the region with you as you travel the entire length of the Denali Park Road – all 92 miles one-way. This all-day bus tour will show you sights of deep Alaskan back country as you head toward Kantishna Valley. Have your cameras ready to capture pristine landscapes and abundant wildlife in their natural habitat as you roll through Denali National Park. Anytime the driver sees wildlife, such as bear or caribou, they will stop for everyone to get a good look.
