Cody Hoagland
Born and raised in Utah, I possess a profound passion for the outdoors, nature, and wildlife. I am a published, award-winning professional wildlife photographer, my work has been featured in prestigious outlets such as National Geographic, Defenders of Wildlife, and Outdoor Photography. I am dedicated to capturing majestic animals in their natural habitats, combined with enthusiasm for guiding others and imparting knowledge of the natural world, I have a deep commitment to conservation and ethical practices
Each day of the tour is thoughtfully structured to culminate in a memorable grand finale—a carefully selected highlight, such as a prime wildlife viewing opportunity, a spectacular sunset over iconic landscapes, or an extraordinary natural phenomenon.
Why I love being a guide
As a professional tour guide, I derive great fulfillment from introducing guests to the places I hold dear, revealing the breathtaking beauty of our natural world and the remarkable wildlife that inhabits it.
My guided experiences are designed to immerse participants in the pristine landscapes of Utah, Wyoming, and Montana, where we observe iconic species—such as wolves in Yellowstone National Park, grizzly bears in Grand Teton National Park, and diverse avian life across these ecosystems—in their natural environments. I prioritize ethical wildlife viewing practices, ensuring minimal disturbance while maximizing opportunities for meaningful observation and photography.
Through these journeys, I aim not only to showcase the splendor of these wild places but also to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of ecological systems, encouraging responsible stewardship among visitors. Sharing these extraordinary natural treasures with others remains one of the most rewarding aspects of my work as a guide and wildlife photographer.
My guiding style
I approach each guided experience with a calm, thoughtful, and knowledgeable demeanor, ensuring that guests of all activity levels and abilities feel welcome, comfortable, and fully supported.
My primary objective is to create an inclusive environment where every participant—regardless of physical fitness, prior experience, or pace—can engage meaningfully with the natural world. Through careful planning, clear communication, and adaptable itineraries, I strive to maximize the value of the journey for everyone, fostering a sense of accomplishment, wonder, and connection while prioritizing safety and enjoyment at all times
Favorite places
I am deeply drawn to the majestic landscapes of Montana and Wyoming; the mountains there resonate profoundly with me, serving as a vital source of renewal and rejuvenation.
Yet, I must acknowledge a particular affinity for the California Redwoods and the adjacent Pacific coast—an extraordinary destination to which I endeavor to return at least once each year. The ancient forests and serene coastal environment possess a rare, almost magical tranquility that restores both spirit and perspective in a uniquely profound way
