Itinerary:

  • Newport Oregon

    Our tour guide will meet guests at the airport arrivals pick-up area. Please arrive any time prior to 12:00 pm. From there you will travel two hours through the Willamette valley and onto the Pacific Ocean. You will pass through Lincoln City and Depoe Bay on our way to Newport. En route, you will explore the Boiler Bay Overlook and have the opportunity to see this unique ecological area and watch for wildlife and other activity in and around the water. This evening, we will enjoy a fantastic farm-to-table experience at a local restaurant for our tour's welcome dinner. What a great experience to have the joy of eating fresh fish right off the boat. The restaurants here are fantastic, and this will be a treat. Once finished, you can enjoy walking along the beach as the waves crash and the sun sets below the horizon!

  • Yaquina Head Lighthouse

    Begin your morning exploring various viewpoints, especially the Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Marine Gardens, just north of Newport. You will also get to enjoy a 2-hour Whale Watching tour with Dockside Depoe Bay. The same whales return year after year and we can identify them by their individual markings. The skippers even name them. Humpback Blues whales are also seen occasionally, though not as frequently as Gray Whales. We are fortunate here in Depoe Bay to have whales nearby for us to see for most of the year. Afterwards, you will have the afternoon to relax and enjoy the Pacific Ocean and the town of Newport

  • Cape Blanco

    Today you will continue south along Oregon’s beautiful coast. Some of the areas you will visit are Heceta Head Lighthouse, Sea Lion Caves, Devil’s Churn, Thor’s Wells, Captain Cook Point, Cape Blanco, and many others. The evening will be in Gold Beach, OR where you can spend your evening relaxing watching the waves or enjoying a walk along the beach to the Rogue River or Turtle Rock Creek. Each room has its own balcony to sit back and enjoy the view!

  • Rogue River

    Be ready this morning for more fun on the water – but this time it’s the Rogue River. This thrilling 64-mile mail-run on a Hydro-jet Boat takes you through shallow riffles and beneath the sheer 400-foot walls of Copper Canyon. As you travel deeper into the federally designated Wild & Scenic River, make sure to have your camera ready to capture osprey, otter, deer and bear, as your professional guide shares the folklore, history, trees, and wildflowers of the area. Your adventure includes a fantastic lunch on an open deck overlooking the river or seated inside with views of the area. The afternoon will find you winding your way down the last part of the Oregon Coast and into Crescent City, California for the night.

  • Jedediah Smith Redwood Grove

    This morning you will have the opportunity to explore Redwood Forests of the Pacific Northwest. These include Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, and Jedediah Smith Redwood Grove, one of the best in the state. Also, you will explore the mouth of the Klamath River into the Pacific Ocean, with the opportunity to see sea lions fishing and playing! Once finished, you will then leave the coastal area and head inland, crossing back into Oregon. You will end the day in the quaint town of Shady Cove.

  • Crater Lake

    Today’s travels take you north along Hwy 97 to Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake is widely known for its amazing depth, intense blue color, pure water, and spectacular views. The Visitor Center can provide valuable information about the lake's history and formation. you will enjoy views of the lake as you hike up to Garfield Peak. After lunch at the Crater Lake Dining Room, you will continue around the lake on a tour of the Rim. This two-hour drive around the lake offers awesome views and stops with plenty of opportunities for picture taking. Also, there will be a few great optional hikes up to The Watchman for more views of the lake and the surrounding areas. Once you've said goodbye to Crater Lake, you'll make your way to Bend. You'll have some time to get acquainted with Central Oregon's biggest city before settling in for the night.

  • Multnomah Falls

    After breakfast, you will head just south of town and have some adventure at the Newberry Volcano National Monument to see an active volcanic area. Some great hikes are available. Afterwards, you will head north to Portland. Along the way, you will travel past Mount Hood, with views of the glacier up through the Columbia River Gorge. Enjoy the breathtaking views and photo ops of this protected National Scenic Area. You will stop at Multnomah Falls, the second-tallest year-round waterfall in the nation. The water drops 620 feet from its origin on Larch Mountain. You will have a farewell lunch at Multnomah Falls Lodge overlooking the Columbia River. We will arrive at the Portland Airport in the late afternoon.

Physical Requirements:

Clients should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain for an average of 1 to 3 miles at a time. Elevation gain and loss averages between 50 to 300 ft throughout the areas visited during this tour.

The SWAT Trip Protection Plan (TPP) gives you the freedom to cancel your tour for any reason up to the day before departure and receive a full refund of your SWAT-collected tour payments. It’s a simple, transparent cancellation waiver designed to provide flexibility for our guests and clarity in our booking process.

What TPP is-and Isn't

  • Not Insurance. It is SWAT's own cancellation waiver.
  • Coverage: Full refund of Swat-collected tour price and SWAT-sold add-ons (e.g., optional activities, additional nights of lodging, etc).

Who & What's Eligible

  • Who:  Any named traveler on a SWAT booking (direct or qualifing agency/partner sale).
  • When: Must be added at initial checkout (cannot be added later).
  • Exclusions:
    • Cruise or third-party products (e.g., AMA Waterways) outside SWAT's control.
    • Air or rail tickets not booked by SWAT
    • Government fees (e.g., park passes).
    • Wholesale agreements that prohibit supplier waivers.

How to Purchase

  • At checkout, you'll see an unchecked box offering TPP at 10% of your SWAT cart total.
  • Check the box to add TPP; leave it unchecked to decline.
  • Once you leave the checkout page, you cannot add or remove TPP.

Cancelling Under TPP

  • Deadline: You may cancel through 11:59 pm local time in your tour's start city on the day before your first activity.
  • Process:
    • Call or email the contact on your confirmation notice.
    • We'll log your request timestamp (with time zone) and ask for a brief written confirmation via email to info@southwestadventuretours.com.
  • Refunds: We refund 100% of all SWAT-collected tour and SWAT add-on amounts. The 10% TPP fee is retained.

After the Deadline

  • If you cancel on or after your tour start date, or are a no-show, SWAT cancellation terms apply (no refund of tour amounts).

Rescheduling

  • You may reschedule your protected booking once within 12 months of your original departure date at no additional TPP fee.
  • If your new tour price is higher you pay only the difference in TPP fee; if lower, there will be no refund of the original fee.

Timing of Refund

  • Once we receive your written cancellation request, Accounting initiates your refund within 5-7 business days.
  • Actual bank posting time depends on your bank's processing schedule.
